John Hollins

John William Hollins (* July 16, 1946 in Guildford ) is a former English footballer and football coach.

Career

Playing career

Raised in a family Hollins footballer - his father, grandfather, and all three brothers were professionals - came as 17 -year-old to Chelsea. The midfielder whose greatest strength was the Lauffreudigkeit, was captain of the team after a few years. The greatest success with the Blues were the League Cup victory in 1965, the English FA Cup victory in 1970, winning the European Cup Winners' Cup competition in 1971. During this time he was called up once in England's team. He was allowed to cover the English jersey on May 24, 1967 against Spain. In 1975 he went to the Queens Park Rangers. After four years and 151 games with the Rangers, he went to local rivals Chelsea to Arsenal. For the Gunners, he also came into the finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup competition, but lost. 1983 after several years in Highbury Hollins went back to the blues, where he still was used 29 times in a year.

Coaching career

His first coaching position was Chelsea, where he was from 1985 to 1988 under contract. After unsuccessful games 1988, he was dismissed from the blues. After his sacking at Chelsea, he founded his own sports company, which he led in 1993 to his involvement in the Queens Park Rangers. The Englishman took over the Managers office and was even short-term ( 1997), head coach at the Hoops. From 1998 to 2001 he was a coach with the Welsh club Swansea City. After Swansea Hollins was a year coach at AFC Rochdale, Stockport County (also the Chinese cooperation club Stockport Tiger Star ), Crawley Town and until December 2008 at FC Weymouth. From time to time the Englishman worked as an expert on BBC Radio.
