John Howard Kyan

John Howard Kyan (* November 27, 1774; † January 5, 1850 ) was an Irish inventor.

Life

His father John Howard Kyan of Mount Howard and Ballymurtagh was the owner of several copper mines in Wicklow. As his father's company was insolvent, he went to London and worked there in the Old Street Road in a brewery. Kyan invented in London to a process for the production of paper and wood preservatives. The funds thus prepared were used for the protection of paper, canvas, canvas and Tauwerken for ships. The invention consists in the fact that substances or articles are soaked in water, which previously Deutochlorid mercury or corrosive sublimate of mercury was dissolved. Then the soaked substances and brands are dried and washed with hot or cold water.
