John I, Count of Aumale

John I († July 11, 1302 at Courtrai ) was a Count of Aumale. He was a son of Count Ferdinand II and Laure de Montfort. Father's side he was descended from the royal house of Castile.

Upon the death of his father in 1260 Johann followed by his grandmother Jeanne de Dammartin as Count of Aumale in the right. After her death in 1279, he took over this county in its own right. The grandmother also held by his county of Ponthieu went over to his aunt Eleanor, Queen of England.

John I fought in the Battle of the Golden Spurs against the Flemings and was killed.

Was married to Johann with Ida de Meulan and her son was John II († 1342 ).
