John Inge

John Geoffrey Inge ( born February 26, 1955 in Folkestone, Kent ) is a British Anglican theologian. He is since 2007 the Bishop of Worcester in the Church of England.

Life

Inge first attended the Kent College in Canterbury. He then continued his education at St. Chad's College in Durham continued; where he graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science ( B.Sc.) in Chemistry from. After obtaining his Postgraduate Certificate in Education in 1979, Inge chemistry taught at Lancing College in Sussex. Inge decided afterwards but for a career as a priest. He then studied theology at the College of the Resurrection in Mirfield, Yorkshire. His ordination took place in the diocese of Chichester. In 1983 he was ordained a deacon. From 1984 to 1986, Inge auxiliary Kaplan ( Assistant Chaplain ) at Lancing College; there he taught as a teacher chemistry and religious doctrine. From 1986 to 1990 he worked as a chaplain at Harrow School, 1986-1989, first as a Junior Chaplain, 1989/1990 then as Senior Chaplain. From 1990 to 1996 he served as pastor (Vicar ) at St. Luke 's Church, an inner city community in Wallsend in the county Tyneside in the Diocese of Newcastle upon Tyne active. He was appointed canon and Domgeistlicher ( Canon residentiary ) to the Cathedral of Ely, 1996; he held until 2003 this office. Inge is Chairman ( Chairman ) Board of Directors ( Board) of the College of Evangelists. Since 2008, he serves on the Board of Directors ( Council) of Ridley Hall College, a theological college for the training of priests, in Cambridge.

He is a longstanding member of the World Development Movement and member of Amnesty International. He was from 2005 to 2011 trustee ( Trustee ) of the organization Common Purpose, an international organization that advises people in management positions and support to make their decisions more effectively within their own organizations, the local community and to society as a whole. Since 2011 Inge takes over where the function of a Trust Protector. Queen Elizabeth II appointed him on February 15, 2013 to the Office of High Almoner.

Membership in the House of Lords

Inge heard since 2012 as a clergyman Lord the House of Lords on. In the House of Lords he succeeds John William Hind, Bishop of Chichester, to. Hind entered April 30, 2012 officially retired. The House of Lords leads Inge since May 9, 2012 as an official member. Private

Inge is married. His wife Denise is a writer and is an acknowledged expert on the work of belonging to the Metaphysical Poets English poet Thomas Traherne ( 1636/1637-1674 ). From this marriage two daughters were born. His private interests include theater, music, reading, biking, swimming and traveling.
