John Isaac Moore

John Isaac Moore ( born February 7, 1856 Lafayette County, Mississippi, † March 18, 1937 ) was an American politician and 1907, acting governor of the state of Arkansas.

Early years and political rise

John Moore attended until 1881, the University of Arkansas. After studying law he was admitted to the bar in 1882. Moore was a member of the Democratic Party and was elected in 1882 in the House of Representatives from Arkansas. Between 1894 and 1900 he was a judge of a probate court in Phillips County. Between 1905 and 1907 he sat in the Senate from Arkansas and was its president in 1907 even.

Acting Governor and other life

When sworn in January Governor John Sebastian Little had already in February 1907 to give up his office after a nervous breakdown, Moore was President of the Senate to the task to take over his office. But since his term ended as President of the Senate on May 14, stayed him just three months as acting governor. During this time he has only managed the office. The new Senate President Xenophon Overton Pindall took over in May 1907, the Office of the Governor and finished John Little's tenure, which would have run until January 14, 1909. Moore returned 1913-1915 back in the state Senate. Between 1917 and 1918 he was a member of the Commission on Revision of the Constitution of Arkansas. In March 1937 John Moore died at the age of 81 years.
