John IV Laskaris

John IV Laskaris (Greek ' Ιωάννης Δ ' Λάσκαρης, * 1250, † after 1290 ) was only eight years old when he was elevated to the Byzantine emperor in exile in Nicaea in the death of his father, Theodore II. He was the last of the Laskaridenkaiser who had built the Empire Nikaia the Fourth Crusade in 1204 after the conquest of Constantinople.

Due to its age-related immaturity of Despot Michael Palaeologus took over the regency. However, this could be 1259 self- proclaimed and crowned emperor. At his command, John was blinded after the reconquest of Constantinople and then trapped on an island in the Sea of ​​Marmara set.
