John Jarvis (set decorator)
John Jarvis was a British art director and production designer, who was nominated once for an Academy Award for Best Production Design.
Life
Jarvis began his career as an art director and production designer in the film industry in 1945 at the adventure drama The Woman without a Heart ( The Wicked Lady, 1945) by Leslie Arliss with Margaret Lockwood, James Mason and Patricia Roc.
At the Academy Awards in 1954 he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Production Design, and either together with Alfred Young and Hans O. Peters for the staged by Richard Thorpe feature film The Knights of the Round Table ( Knights of the Round Table, 1953) with Robert Taylor Lancelot, Ava Gardner as Guinevere and Mel Ferrer as King Arthur.
Jarvis worked until 1975 in the production of 25 films.
