John Jensen

John " Faxe " Jensen ( May 3, 1965 in Copenhagen, Denmark ) is a former Danish football player.

Club career

He began his career in 1986 at Brøndby IF. With the Copenhagen suburb club, he won the 1987 Danish championship. In 1988, John Jensen in the German Bundesliga for Hamburger SV. There he played for two years before returning to Brøndby IF. In 1992, Jensen in the English Premier League for Arsenal FC, where he, however, only a goal in many encounters shoot and in this respect could not fulfill the set expectations on him ( so sang the Arsenal fans: "We'll be there, When Jensen scores. "). With Arsenal, he won the 1993 FA Cup and the 1994 European Cup Winners' Cup.

Therefore, Jensen returned 1996 again back to Brøndby IF. In his " third phase " in Brøndby he succeeded in winning the Danish Cup.

In 1999 he moved to Herfølge BK. With the club he was 1999/2000 surprisingly Danish title. The following season, however, one rose from surprising. 2002 John Jensen finished his career.

National

John Jensen ran on September 24, 1986 in Copenhagen, in the 0-2 defeat against (West) Germany, for the first time for the national team of Denmark on when he came on in the 81st minute for Henrik Andersen. In the course of a qualifying game for the Olympic Summer Games 1988 on 10 June 1987, against Romania, Jensen scored his first goal for the national team, where he marked 7-0 (final score: 8-0 ). In the same year he played a game in qualifying for the European Football Championship 1988. John Jensen was also present at this tournament and came in two group games against Spain and Italy, are used. In the end, however, was the resignation after the group stage. In the subsequent qualification for the FIFA World Cup 1990 John Jensen was also included. The qualification for the World Cup but was missed. Even in the subsequent qualification for the European Football Championship 1992 played with Jensen. Also, this qualification has been missed. But in 1992, moved to Denmark as a substitute for political reasons disqualified Yugoslavia. John Jensen won surprisingly then, the European Championship. After winning the title John Jensen was active for the national team of Denmark also failed in the qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 1994. He also played well in qualifying for Euro 1996, Denmark. During qualification Jensen also denied his last international game for Denmark; 2-0 win on 16 August 1995, against Armenia, Jensen was replaced at the beginning of the second half by Allan Nielsen. Jensen played 69 international matches in which he scored four goals.

Coach

After his playing career he became a coach in the small Danish club Herfølge BK, with whom he also masters of the Danish Super League was founded in 2000. He then moved back to Brøndby IF, where he worked as an assistant coach alongside Michael Laudrup.
