John Johnson (composer)

John Johnson ( * 1540, † 1594 ) was an English lutenist and composer. From 1581 until his death he was a lutenist Queen Elizabeth the First. Most of his works, almost all for lute solo or in duet, are pavan, galliard or arrangements of folk melodies. He was the father of Robert Johnson. A complete edition of his lute music was by Jan WJ Burgers published.
