John Joseph Cavanaugh III

John Joseph Cavanaugh III ( born August 1, 1945 in Omaha, Nebraska) is an American politician. Between 1977 and 1981 he represented the second electoral district of the state of Nebraska in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Cavanaugh attended Creighton Preparatory School until 1963, in Omaha and then until 1967, the Regis College in Denver. After a subsequent law degree at Creighton University, he began working in Omaha in 1972 as a lawyer. Previously, he had served his military service in the U.S. Army 1968-1970.

Cavanaugh was a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1973 and 1977 he was a member of the Nebraska Legislature. In the congressional elections of 1976, he was elected in the second district of Nebraska in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he John Y. McCollister replaced on January 3, 1977. After a re-election in 1978 he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1981 two legislative sessions.

In 1980, he opted not to run again. Since then he has worked as a lawyer again in Omaha. In the years 1980, 2000 and 2004 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions relevant. John Cavanaugh has eight adult children.
