John Joseph Leibrecht

John Joseph Body of Law ( born August 8, 1930 in Overland ) is retired bishop of Springfield - Cape Girardeau.

Life

The Archbishop of Saint Louis, Joseph Elmer Cardinal Ritter, ordained him a priest on March 17, 1956.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on October 20, 1984 Bishop of Springfield - Cape Girardeau. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Saint Louis, John Lawrence May, on 12 December of the same year; Co-consecrators were Bernard Francis Law, Archbishop of Boston, and Patrick Glennon Flavin, Bishop of Lincoln.
