John Kibowen

John Kemboi Kibowen ( John Kipkemboi Kibowen; born 21 April 1969, Changach, Keiyo District ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner, who had his greatest successes in cross country and in the 5000 -meter run.

He began his career as a middle-distance runner. At the World Athletics Championships in Athens in 1997, he retired about 1500 m from the inlet port.

1998 world champion in the marathon relay with the Kenyan team. Earlier this year, he had won on the short distance of the World Cross Country Championships gold. After he was sidelined because of an injury in the 1999 season, he won this title again in 2000, and in 2003 he won silver on the short distance the third Edelmedall in this competition.

About 5000 m he won at the World Athletics Championships 2001 in Edmonton bronze. He landed Also well up over this distance as the fourth 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint- Denis and sixth in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki.

Since 2003 he starts at road races. From 2003 to 2005 he won three times in a row when Parelloop over 10 km. In 2008 he moved to the marathon distance: The Paris Marathon, he came in 14th place in 2:11:04 h, the Amsterdam Marathon, he finished eighth in 2:11:28 h

John Kemboi Kibowen is supervised by PACE Sports Management. He began his career in the Kenyan armed forces, where he was trained as an aircraft mechanic. He has been married since 1993, father of four children and operates a dairy and a corn farm, and two gas stations.
