John Kundla

John Kundla ( born July 3, 1916 in Star Junction, Pennsylvania ) is a retired American basketball coach. Between 1947 and 1959 he coached the Minneapolis Lakers in the U.S. professional league NBA and its predecessor leagues BAA and NBL. The team led by George Mikan, he won six championships in each league ( one each in NBL / BAA, four in the NBA ). He is one of three coaches who (the other two are Red Auerbach and Phil Jackson ) won with their teams three championships in a row. After his NBA coaching career ended in 1959, Kundla coached the team from the University of Minnesota until 1968. Since May 15, 1995 he is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
