John Kyle

Kyle attended the law school of Cumberland University. After he graduated in 1874 he was inducted in the same year in the legal profession and practiced in Sardis. 1879-1881 Kyle had held the office of mayor of the city and was followed from 1881 to 1885 in the Senate Senator from Mississippi. 1886 to 1890 he was a member of the Mississippi Railroad Commission.

Kyle was elected as a Democrat in the 52nd and the following two Congress. So he took on 4 March 1891 to 3 March 1897 the state of Mississippi in the U.S. House of Representatives. He stood as a candidate in 1896 not for a renewed term of office and returned to his resignation from the U.S. House of Representatives back to Sardis. There, Kyle began to work again in his former profession. In addition, he was also active in the banking industry. In 1912 he retired from active professional life. A year later, Kyle died on July 6 in Sardis and was buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
