John L. Murray (representative)

John L. Murray ( born January 25, 1806 Pennsylvania, † January 31, 1842 in Wadesboro, Kentucky ) was an American politician. Between 1837 and 1839 he represented the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

The exact birthplace of John Murray is not known. There is no information about his youth in Pennsylvania. It is certain that he studied law and was admitted to the bar. Later, Murray moved to Kentucky, where he held several local offices. He became a member of the Democratic Party and was 1830-1835 deputy in the House of Representatives from Kentucky.

In the congressional elections of 1836 Murray was the first electoral district of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Linn Boyd on March 4, 1837. Until March 3, 1839, he was able to complete a term in Congress. After retiring from Congress Murray has had no other higher office more. He died on January 31, 1842 in Wadesboro.
