John Lindley (cinematographer)

John William Lindley ( born November 17, 1951 in New York City ) is an American cinematographer.

Life

Lindley attended the film school at New York University and began his career as a professional cinematographer on music videos, whose most famous is Road to Nowhere by the Talking Heads. In 1981, he worked for the TV movie Andrea Doria: The Final Chapter for the first time in a feature film.

For his camera work on Pleasantville - Too good to be true, he was nominated in 1998 for a Golden Satellite Award. The making of this film but was overshadowed by a fatal accident, his second assistant, who has been attributed to fatigue. Lindley, which is very active in the U.S. trade union for cinematographers The Camera Guild, then initiated a petition to enforce the so-called Brent 's Rule, which reduces the maximum working time of filmmakers to 14 hours.
