John M. Robsion

John Marshall Robsion ( born January 2, 1873 Bracken County, Kentucky; † February 17, 1948 in Barbourville, Kentucky ) was an American politician of the Republican Party. He represented the state of Kentucky in both chambers of Congress.

Life

After his law studies at the National Northern University in Ada (Ohio ) and the Holbrook College in Knoxville (Tennessee ) Robsion graduated from the National Normal University in Lebanon (Ohio ). He graduated in 1900 at Centre College in Danville (Kentucky).

He subsequently worked as a teacher in public schools and teaches at Union College in Barbourville. He also practiced as a lawyer and was president of the local First National Bank.

Policy

In March 1919, the Republicans Robsion took up his mandate in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served until January 10, 1930. During this period he was also Chairman of the Mining Committee.

He resigned after him his party had determined to succeed the retiring Senator Frederic M. Sackett. His tenure was however short-lived. Back in November of the same year had Robsion leave the Senate again after it had failed to be re-elected.

Then he resumed work as a lawyer. In January 1935, however, John Robsion returned to Congress when he was re-elected to the House of Representatives. This belonged to until his death on 17 February 1948 in Barboursville.

His son John was from 1953 to 1959 also Republican congressman for Kentucky.
