John MacDougall (British politician)

John MacDougall ( born December 8, 1947 in Dunfermline, Fife, † 13 August 2008) was a British Labour Party politician.

Life and career

MacDougall studied marine engineering at the Royal Dockyard at Rosyth College and later attended the Glenrothes College and Fife Technical College. In 1981, he joined the Labour Party. Soon after, he was elected to the Fife Regional Council, where he served until 2001.

From 2001 until his death he was a member of the House of Commons. There he sat at first for Central Fife until 2005, then for Glenrothes. 2007 with him pleural mesothelioma was found, which he was chronically ill and his presence in the House was only sporadically. Although he announced that the next election to compete again, but died on 13 August 2008.

MacDougall was married and had two children.
