John Mayock

John Paul Mayock ( born October 26, 1970 in Barnsley ) is a former British middle and long distance runners.

Between 1992 and 2005, Mayock won five medals at Indoor Athletics European Championships in 3000 -meter run. In addition to his victory in 1998 in Valencia, he came second twice and third parties. At IAAF World Indoor Championships, he took part at this distance, between 1993 and 2003 in five finals and scored 2001 with the fourth place his best finish. Mayock ran the 3000 meters in the hall during his career total of thirty under eight minutes more than any other athlete.

In the 1500 -meter run, he won for England starting at the Commonwealth Games in 1994 in Victoria and the bronze medal in 1998 in Kuala Lumpur the silver medal. At the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, he finished fourth in the 5000 -meter run.

Three times Mayock started at the Olympic Games. About 1500 meters he was in Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney 2000 Eleventh ninth. In Athens in 2004, he took up in 5000 -meter run, but could not qualify for the final itself. In his four appearances at World Athletics Championships he reached only in 1997 in Athens the final of the 1500 -meter run, finishing in ninth place there.

2005 Mayock tried with limited success in road races. In this year he was at the Great South Run aft and the Great North Run in sixth. In the New York City Marathon, he abandoned the race prematurely.

John Mayock is 1,80 m tall and had a competition weight of 65 kg.
