John Mearsheimer

John J. Mearsheimer ( John Mearsheimer Joseph, born December 14, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York City ) is an American political scientist.

Life

John Mearsheimer was a member of the U.S. Army in 1964 and studied from 1966 to 1970 at the Military Academy at West Point. This was followed by a Master 's degree in International Relations at the University of Southern California in 1980 and his doctorate at Cornell University.

Since 1982 he has worked at the University of Chicago, since 1987 as a full professor of Political Science.

He is considered one of the most important representatives of the theory of neo-realism in international relations.
