John Melcher

John Melcher ( born September 6, 1924 in Sioux City, Iowa ) is a former American politician of the Democratic Party. He was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States from 1977 to 1989 and senator in the Senate of the United States of America.

Career

Melcher attended the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1950 at Iowa State University as a veterinarian. Later he went to Forsyth, Montana and opened a veterinary clinic. He was elected mayor in 1995.

In 1962 he was elected to the Senate from Montana. On June 24, 1969 election as a Democrat was in the House of Representatives of the United States. In 1977, he was the successor of not more candidates Mike Mansfield Senator for the State of Montana; In 1982, the re-election.
