John Michael Montgomery

John Michael Montgomery ( born January 20, 1965 in Danville, Kentucky) is an American country singer. He is counted among the so-called neo- traditionalists who revived the stagnant country music in the early 1990s.

Biography

As a child, John Michael played along with sister Becky and brother Eddie in the country band of his parents. He had his first public performance at age five. After the divorce of his parents, he continued as a solo musician in Lexington. For several years he worked in the local Austin Saloon before he was taken in 1991 by the record label Atlantic Records.

In 1991, his first album, Life's A Dance, performed. During a recording session, he fell out with the producer. Although it was already late at night, Montgomery cried just decided to the boss of Atlantic. The producer was then replaced and completed the album without further incident. The title song peaked at number four on the country charts and the follow-up single I Love The Way You Love Me number one. The album has sold more than one million copies.

The remarkable success of his debut album was surpassed by the succession production. Kickin 'It Up was awarded multi-platinum and was listed in both the country and the pop charts. Three single releases reached the top of the country charts. I Swear received the CMA Award Single of the Year. Montgomery herself was awarded the major CMA Horizon Award as the most promising country artists. In 1995 he had to undergo a vocal cord surgery, but was free of complications. His brother Eddie, with whom he had played as a child in the band of his parents, was now also successful and celebrated as part of the duo Montgomery Gentry success.

2000 was Atlantic Records, the production of country music, and Montgomery joined the label Warner Brothers. A serious accident with complicated leg fracture forced him again to take a break. His winning streak continued in the new label on, one-off single, however, only reached number one: 2000 duet with Alison Krauss The Little Girl was his seventh number-one hit on the country charts. On 14 October 2008 his album Time Flies appeared.
