John Mitchell (ice hockey, born 1985)

John Mitchell ( born January 22, 1985 in Oakville, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. Since July 2012, he plays for the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League on the position of the center.

Career

John Mitchell began his career as a hockey player with the Plymouth Whalers, for whom he played from 2001 to 2005 a total of four years in the Ontario Hockey League. During this time he was in the fifth round as 158 total players selected during the NHL Entry Draft in 2003 by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Towards the end of the 2004/05 season, the attacker first played in professional hockey, as he completed two games for the St. John 's Maple Leafs, the former Toronto's farm team from the American Hockey League.

In the years 2005 to 2008 Mitchell was exclusively for the new AHL farm team the Maple Leafs, the Toronto Marlies on the ice before he was appointed in the summer of 2008 in the squad of the Toronto Maple Leafs and during the season his debut in the National Hockey League announced. His first two NHL goals scored by Mitchell 1 November 2008 in a 5-2 victory over the New York Rangers. End of February 2011 Mitchell was delivered in a transfer business in exchange for a seventh -round choice of law in the NHL Entry Draft in 2012 to the New York Rangers.

On 1 July 2012, he signed a two year contract with the Colorado Avalanche.
