John Mogg, Baron Mogg

John Frederick Mogg, Baron Mogg, of Queen 's Park in the County of East Sussex, KCMG ( born October 5, 1943 in Birmingham ) is a British civil servant, manager and politician, who is a life peer member of the House of Lords since 2008.

Life

Administrative Officer and Director General of the European Commission

After going to school and studying Mogg was 1965-1974 employees of Rediffusion Ltd and following representatives of the Office of Fair Trading ( OFT ), a is set by the Fair Trading Act 1973 Non-Governmental Authority for the promotion of consumer protection and competition law.

Energy managers and upper house member

After completing his work at the European Commission in 2003, he was member of the Board of Gas and Electricity Markets ( Office of Gas and Electricity Markets ) and since 2003 has been chairman of the board of that authority. In addition, Mogg was the Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George in 2003 and from then on the additional name "Sir" led from 2005 to 2011 Chairman of the European Regulation Group for Electricity and Gas, President of the Council of European Energy Regulators and Chairman of the regulatory body of the agency for the cooperation of energy regulators.

By Letters Patent on 28 May 2008 was raised to the peerage John Mogg as a life peer with the title Baron Mogg, of Queen 's Park in the County of East Sussex. Shortly after, on 3 June 2008, his introduction ( Introduction) as a member of the House of Lords. In the House of Lords he belongs to the group of so-called Cross Bencher.

Since 2010, Lord Mogg is also Chairman of the International Confederation of Energy Regulators and also acts as a special advisor to the President of the European Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market, as well as a trustee of the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra.
