John Morris (composer)

John Leonard Morris ( born October 18, 1926 in Elizabeth, New Jersey) is an American composer.

Life

John Leonard Morris grew up in Kansas in the small town of Independence. At the age of three he began playing the piano and was taught by different music teachers, before he studied music at the Juilliard School. For the first time he met Mel Brooks, while the television program Your Show Of Shows, at the Brooks the script and Morris should revise the score. She then worked for the first time in the song Springtime For Hitler. together. Brooks was looking for a composer who should be his song writing music, and attention was drawn to Morris by Alan Johnson. Although any resulting long-term cooperation was accompanied by tensions, Morris wrote for Brooks films like Springtime for Hitler, Life stinks and Mel Brooks ' Spaceballs. He also received two Academy Award nominations for both films The Elephant Man and The Wild Wild West.
