John N. W. Rumple

John Nicholas William Rumple (* March 4, 1841 in Fostoria, Ohio; † January 31, 1903 in Chicago, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1901 and 1903 he represented the state of Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Rumple attended the common schools and the Western College in Iowa. He then studied at Iowa State University. During the Civil War he served in a cavalry unit from Iowa, where he rose to become captain. After a subsequent study of law and its made ​​in 1867 admitted to the bar, he began practicing in his new profession in Marengo.

Rumple was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1873 and 1878 he was a member of the Senate of Iowa. From 1880 to 1886 he was a member of the board of the State University of Iowa. He was also from 1881 to 1885 curator of the Historical Society of Iowa. Rumple was a member of the municipal council of Marengo. In 1885 and 1886 he served as mayor of this municipality. From 1896 to 1900 he was the legal representative of the municipal council and member of the school board.

In the congressional elections of 1900 Rumple in the second constituency of Iowa was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he met on March 4, 1901 the successor of Joseph R. Lane. During his time in Congress diseased Rumple from a tumor in the neck. This disease was the reason for his resignation on another candidacy in 1902. In these elections the Democrat Martin Joseph Wade was elected his successor. Rumple could not finish his ending actually on March 3, 1903 legislative session. He died on 31 January 1903 in a hospital in Chicago his suffering. His deputy seat remained vacant until Wade took office on March 4, 1903.
