John O'Donohue

John O'Donohue (* 1 January 1956 in County Clare in Ireland, † January 4, 2008 in France) was an Irish philosopher and writer.

Biography

John O'Donohue was born in 1956 and grew up in a farming village in County Clare, a barren landscape in the west of Ireland. In 1990 he earned his doctorate at the University of Tübingen with Scripture person as mediation.

As a philosopher and author, he worked on Celtic wisdom and Celtic- Christian thought. Particularly well known he was with the bestselling Anam Cara ( anɪm kɑɾɾɑ ) - The Book of Celtic Wisdom ( German Giovanni and Ditte Bandini ). In addition, O'Donohue was his profound knowledge of the philosophy of Hegel. Since the mid- 1990s, he lived in Connemara ( County Galway). In early January 2008, he died while on holiday in France.

O'Donohue was as a former Catholic priest for many years a member of a citizens' movement to preserve the scenic integrity of his birth Burren Region and spoke Gaelic.
