John Ogrodnick

John Alexander Ogrodnick ( born June 20, 1959 in Ottawa, Ontario) is a former professional, Canadian ice hockey player ( Right Wing ), who played from 1979 to 1993 for the Detroit Red Wings, Quebec Nordiques and New York Rangers of the National Hockey League.

Career

Successes mark his time as a junior. With the New Westminster Bruins in the WHL, he was the 1977 and 1978 Memorial Cup win. With him also the subsequent NHL player Stan Smyl was in the squad of the Bruins. In 1979 he participated with the Canadian team at the World Junior Championship.

The Detroit Red Wings selected him in the NHL Entry Draft in 1979 in the fourth round as the 66th from. DC in the coming season 1979/80 he managed after a stay in the AHL farm team of the Wings in the Adirondack Red Wings, the jump to the NHL. In his seven and a half years in Detroit, he was three times best scorer of the Red Wings and in the 1984/85 season he surpassed 105 points scorer even the 100 point mark. This season, he was also elected to the First All -Star team in the NHL. Five times he was nominated for the NHL All-Star Game.

Amidst the 1986/87 season he was released to the Quebec Nordiques. Here he played the season to end before he moved to the New York Rangers. In New York he stayed for five years before his contract was terminated there. With now 33 years, he returned to the 1992/93 season to the Red Wings back. As in his first year as a pro, he played both in Adirondack as in Detroit. After the season, he finished his career.
