John Parish

John Parish ( born 1959 in Yeovil, Somerset, England ) is a British musician, composer, multi-instrumentalist and music producer who is best known for his work with PJ Harvey, the Eels, Tracy Chapman and Giant Sand.

Curriculum vitae

In the 1980s, he founded the band Automatic Dlamini. For changing line-up, among others belonged the singer PJ Harvey. Automatic Dlamini took three music albums: The D is For Drum ( 1987), Here Catch Shouted his Father ( 1990 - not published) and From A Diva to a Diver ( 1992). During this time, Parish began his career as a music producer and worked with the British bands The Chester Fields and The Brilliant Corners, before PJ Harvey's album To Bring You My Love (1995 ) produced, on which he also played guitar, drums, percussion and organ.

Parish toured with PJ Harvey in 1995 and the following year they took Dance Hall at Louse Point ( 1996) together. In 1997, he produced 16 Horse Powers album Low Estate. At PJ Harvey's album Is This Desire ( 1998), Parish mitbeteiligt again. His next project was writing songs for the soundtrack to the film Rosie Belgian director Patrice Toyes.

John Parish Giant produced Sands album Chore of Enchantment (2000) and guested on Goldfrapp album Felt Mountain ( 2000). The following year he was co-author on the Eels album Soul Jacker (2001) and produced music for Sparklehorse and Tracy Chapman. He also worked with a number of other European artists. He produced albums for the French artist Dominique A or the Belgian pop band Thou.

In 2002 he took on his own record How Animals Move ( 2002) and toured with his own music. ( To his companion was, inter alia, Adrian Utley of Portishead. )

Created the albums White Chalk (2007) and A Woman a Man Walked By ( 2009) From the renewed collaboration with PJ Harvey.
