John Parrott

John Parrott MBE ( born May 11, 1964 in Liverpool) is an English snooker player. The Snooker World Championship 1991 began his professional career in 1983, with the 2010/11 season he fell out of the Snooker world rankings. He is a commentator today.

Career

John Parrott won the Junior Pot Black in 1982 and also in 1983, when he was also an amateur world champion. After his move to the pros in the same year he won a total of nine ranking tournaments, which he is the all-time best list in eighth place. He was behind the other represented 14 seasons in the top 16 in the world rankings and 1984-2004 continuously during the World Cup.

In 1989, he reached the World Cup final and was defeated there with Steve Davis 3:18 - until today the highest final defeat in the recent World Cup history. Two years later he defeated in the finals Jimmy White and won the World Cup. They were his only two World Cup finals. His best finish in the world rankings was the 2 position which he held for three years. In 1992 he succeeded his only official maximum break. Overall Parrott scored more than 200 Century Breaks.

In 1996 John Parrott of the Queen the award of Member of the Order of the British Empire ( MBE). For the BBC, he has worked as a commentator in snooker broadcasts, often in a team with Steve Davis.
