John Paxson

John MacBeth Paxson ( born September 29, 1960 in Dayton, Ohio, United States ) is a retired American professional basketball player in the NBA. The 1.88-meter Paxson played the position of point guard and was part of those Chicago Bulls teams that won between 1991 and 1993 three NBA titles in a row ( threepeat ). He is currently General Manager of this basketball club.

Playing career

Paxson was drawn in 1983 NBA Draft at 19 out of the San Antonio Spurs, where he was transferred after two disappointing years with the Chicago Bulls superstar Michael Jordan. After another year as Benchwarmers, he established himself in the season 1986-7 as -starting point guard, who came now per game to 11 points and six originals. The large built for a point guard Paxson was known at that time for his defense work and his high hit rate, as he sank almost half of his throws and over a third of his three-point throws. After the Bulls under coach Doug Collins had failed again and again to the Detroit Pistons, 1989-90 Phil Jackson took over the helm.
