John Paxton

John Paxton ( born May 21, 1911 in Kansas City, Missouri; † 5 January 1985 in Santa Monica, California ) was an American screenwriter.

Before Paxton came in the 1940s to Hollywood, he worked as a journalist and publicist.

The comic book artist Ed Brubaker ( born November 17, 1966) is his nephew.

Awards

The Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Motion Picture category Paxton won twice; 1946 Murder, My Sweet and 1948 for Crossfire ( Crossfire ). In 1948 he was nominated In the Crossfire ( Crossfire ) for an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film, but lost George Seaton, who won the award for The Miracle of Manhattan. In the category of Best Screenplay Paxton was in 1972 with his screenplay for the film 's grandpa can not let ( Kotch ) nominated for a Golden Globe, but Paddy Chayefsky won with his screenplay for the movie Hospital.
