John Pisano

John Pisano ( born June 2, 1931 in Staten Iceland, New York City ) is an American jazz guitarist of modern jazz.

Life and work

John Pisano grew up in New York City and then moved to the West Coast, where he then played from 1956 to 1958 in the band of Chico Hamilton first in the crew chiefs Air Force Band ( 1952-55 ) and. With this group he worked in the film about the Newport Jazz Festival Jazz On A Summer's Day with. He then worked with Matt Dennis, Buddy DeFranco and Jimmy Giuffre, but also took on two albums with his guitar colleagues Billy Bean and a larger cast. In 1958 he became a member of the Paul Horn Quartet. From 1965 to 1970 and again 1974/75 Herb Alpert's Tijuana he played in Brass and also launched their own formations. In the 1980s he formed a duo with guitarist Billy Bean, with whom he recorded for Decca Records and worked for several years with Joe Pass, with whom he recorded a duo album, among others. Produced two albums of his own for the jazz label Pablo Records in the 1990s. In 2000 he accompanied the singer Diana Krall on her album The Look Of Love. He also played in his career with Burt Bacharach, Tony Bennett, Herb Alpert, Natalie Cole, Leroy Vinnegar, Bill Perkins, Peggy Lee, Fred Katz, Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand. With his wife, the singer Jeanne Pisano, he formed the duo Flying Pisano.
