John Podhoretz

John Mordecai Podhoretz ( born April 18, 1961 in New York City ) is an American conservative journalist and former speechwriter.

Life

Podhoretz was born the son of conservative journalist Norman Podhoretz and Midge Decter. He grew up in New York City's Upper West Side and attended Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School. He then studied at the University of Chicago. Podhoretz was a speechwriter for President Ronald Reagan and George HW Bush. For the television series The West Wing - The West Wing, he worked as a consultant. He has published in, among others National Review, The Weekly Standard, U.S. News & World Report, New York Post, Time, and The Washington Times. In addition, he was a political commentator for Fox News and CNN. Podhoretz is editor of the monthly magazine Commentary. He is married and has three children.
