John Rimmer

John Rimmer ( John Thomas " Jack" Rimmer; * April 27, 1878 in Ormskirk, Lancashire, † June 6, 1962 in Liverpool ) was a British track and field athlete and two-time Olympic champion.

Rimmer won the 1900 British AAA championships over four miles. At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1900 he first took part in the 1500 meter race, where he finished eighth. A day later, Rimmer won the 4000-meter steeplechase with one and a half meters ahead of his compatriot Charles Bennett. Along with Bennett, Alfred Tysoe, Sidney Robinson and Stan Rowley he scored a second Olympic gold medal in the 5000 meter team running.

Beginning in 1901, Rimmer worked for the City of Liverpool Police and retired 30 years later as a sergeant. He took over 50 years to some runs and was President of the Athletics Association Sefton Harriers.
