John Rooney (footballer)

John Richard Rooney ( born December 17, 1990 in Liverpool) is an English footballer. The midfielder played for FC Barnsley.

Life

Rooney grew up in Croxteth, a suburb of Liverpool, on. His parents are Thomas Wayne and Jeanette Marie Rooney. He has two older brothers, Graeme and Wayne. John Rooney is of Irish descent and declared 2008 to play for the Irish national team.

Career

Youth

He played from 1996 to 2002 for the youth teams of FC Everton. In 2002 he moved to Macclesfield Town, where he signed his first professional contract on 14 July 2008.

Macclesfield Town

John Rooney made ​​his debut in the first team of Macclesfield Town already 24 March 2008, four months before its actual signing of the contract. On 28 March 2009, he scored the first goal of his career, against Dagenham & Redbridge.

At the end of the 2009/2010 season his contract ran out with Macclesfield. In February 2010, he completed a trial at Derby County. The coach Nigel Clough was his performance in training for okay, but wanted to wait for a second trial.

New York Red Bulls

In autumn 2010, Rooney trained with the U.S. team Seattle Sounders FC with the sample. Through this trial, he was able to secure a place for the next MLS Draft. The Sounders itself had no option Rooney to undertake. A week later he trained nor with the Portland Timbers.

On December 28, 2010 Rooney signed a contract with Major League Soccer and played in January 2011 at the MLS Combine in Florida with in order to be recommended for one of the 18 MLS clubs can. On January 13, he was selected by the New York Red Bulls in the second round of the MLS SuperDraft.
