John Russ

John Russ ( born October 29, 1767 in Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts, † June 22, 1833 in Hartford, Connecticut ) was an American politician. Between 1819 and 1823 he represented the state of Connecticut in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Russ attended primary school in his home. Then he moved to Hartford in Connecticut, where he worked in the trade. He also began a political career as a member of the Democratic- Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1818, which were held in Connecticut not by electoral districts, but all across the state, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he took over the seat of Samuel B. Sherwood. After a re-election in 1820 he was able to complete two terms in Congress between 4 March 1819 and 3 March 1823.

In 1822, Russia renounced another candidacy. Instead, he applied unsuccessfully in 1823 for a seat in the House of Representatives from Connecticut. A year later he made but then the leap into this chamber of parliament. Also in 1824, Russ Richter was in Hartford at the probate court. This office he held until 1830. Afterwards he took his old activities in the commercial again. John Russ died in June 1833 at the age of 65 years in Hartford.
