John Sandford (novelist)

John Sandford ( born February 23, 1944 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa) is the pseudonym of the American writer John Roswell Camp.

Biography

Camp interrupted his studies in history, to his military service in Korea, and took it back on. He graduated with the title from "Master 's Degree in Journalism " and worked in the period 1970 to 1978 for the Miami Herald Tribune. There he worked with the now well -known as a thriller authors Carl Hiaasen and Edna Buchanan.

In 1980 he moved his job and began to write for the St. Paul Pioneer Press. In the same year he was nominated for the first time the Pulitzer Prize for a series of articles about the Native American culture, and finally won it in 1986 for a series of articles about the life of a modern farmer family.

After nine years, he finished 1989, his involvement with the Pioneer Press and published at the same time his first two detective novels "Rules of Prey" ( German title: "School of Death" ) and " The Fool 's Run " ( " The trace of fools "). Since then, 19 other crime novels are published.

In 16 of his novels is the main character of the cop Lucas Davenport, who has in and around Minneapolis and St. Paul to solve ( the so-called Twin Cities ) difficult cases. Noteworthy are the English titles in this series, all of the word " Prey": include ( German "victim ", " prey "). There is also a loose series of four books about the thief Luellen and the computer professional Kidd.

John Camp is remarried after interim divorce with his wife and lives near Minneapolis. With his son, he is now working on other novels.
