John Seale

John Seale ( born October 5, 1942 in Warwick, Queensland) is an Australian cinematographer.

Career

Seale began his career as a cameraman in the 1970s for Australian television. The Australian director Peter Weir released the first international work of Seale. Today he is one of the most respected cinematographers of the international cinema scene. He was four times nominated for an Oscar, for The Witness, Rain Man, Cold Mountain and The English Patient. For The English Patient 1997, he received an Oscar. For this he was awarded the BAFTA Award, a European Film Award and the Boston Society of Film Critics Award for Best Cinematography. In 2011 he was honored with the International Achievement Award from the American Society of Cinematographers.
