John Sheahan

John Sheahan ( born May 19, 1939 in Dublin) is an Irish folk musician. He plays fiddle, mandolin, tin whistle and concertina.

Life

John Sheahan's father was stationed in the Garda Síochána ( Irish Police Force) in Dublin. He attended the " Christian Brothers ' school in Marino, where he received his first musical education and learned to play the tin whistle.

From 1964 to 2012 Sheahan was continuously a member of the Dubliners who gave their last concert after the death of the last founding member Barney McKenna on 31 December 2012. In addition, he was also involved in other musical genres such as jazz or classical. Sheahan composed several songs for the Dubliners, so counts " Marino Waltz" his best known pieces, since it was used commercially on Irish television.

Sheahan was involved alongside the works with the Dubliners on other albums, such as with the song " The Parting Glass" on the album Various - Music Of Ireland: Welcome Home.
