John Siddeley, 1st Baron Kenilworth

John Davenport Siddeley, later Baron Kenilworth (* August 5, 1866 in Cheadle Hulme, † November 3, 1956 in Jersey ) was a British industrialist who worked in the fields of motor vehicles, aircraft and aircraft engines ..

Siddeley originated in 1892 in the Humber Cycle Company, but soon switched to Dunlop. In 1902 he started his own business with the Siddeley Autocar Company and initially imported Peugeot vehicles to England. Soon, however, he began to develop their own vehicles. His company was taken over in 1905 by Wolseley. Since Siddeley with Herbert Austin, the owner, could not agree on further technical development, Austin left the company. Siddeley introduced the now Wolseley - Siddeley mentioned company until 1909. Then gave Wolseley - Siddeley Deasy on and moved to the Motor Company. Siddeley remained until 1935, engaged in the successor company, which now bore the name of Armstrong Siddeley after the merger with Armstrong.

In 1932 he was knighted. In 1937 he acquired Kenilworth Castle.
