John Slaney

John Slaney ( born February 7, 1972 in St. John's, Newfoundland ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who is employed as an assistant coach with the Portland Pirates in the American Hockey League since August 2011. For his services in the American Hockey League, the Canadian was in 2014 honored with induction into the AHL Hall of Fame.

Career

Slaney played during his junior time together with Mathieu Schneider and Owen Nolan at the Cornwall Royals in the Ontario Hockey League. Due to his outstanding achievements he was elected the Washington Capitals in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft in 1990 as the ninth of.
