John the Presbyter

John the Presbyter (Greek: ὁ πρεσβύτερος, literally, the Elder, as an official: the elder ) (* 60, † after 130 ) was a major figure in the early Christian church. He appeared in Asia Minor ( Ephesus region ).

About the person

Papias of Hierapolis reported (around 130 AD) that he considered John the presbyter as an important ecclesiastical authority:
