John Toll

John Toll ( born June 15, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American multiple Oscar- award winning cinematographer.

Life

John Toll had started during his college years in Los Angeles early 70s his career in the documentary. Later he worked as a cameraman for the advertising film and television, before he came to the cinema and as a simple cameraman ( camera operator ) in numerous top productions, was starting with Martin Ritt's Norma Rae, involved. Other films in this position have included Scarface (1983 ), The Falcon and the Snowman ( 1985) and Peggy Sue Got Married (1983).

1991 Toll was first at The First Forfeit cameraman at a movie. 1994 and 1995 followed the movies Legends of the Fall and Braveheart. For both films John Toll won the annual Academy Award for Best Cinematography. After the movies Jack and The Rainmaker, he turned 1998 Terrence Malick film The narrow ridge the war for which he was rewarded with his third Oscar nomination. After that, he was for the camera at Almost Famous - Almost Famous, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, The Last Samurai, Elizabethtown and Seraphim Falls responsible.

From 2000 to 2003 was a member of the Toll "Board of Governors " of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
