John Trevor Stuart

John Trevor Stuart, called Trevor ( born 1929 ) is a British Applied mathematician who deals with theoretical hydrodynamics, hydrodynamic stability and nonlinear partial differential equations.

Stuart studied at Imperial College London and was subsequently a number of years in the Department of Aeronautics of the National Physical Laboratory, before he returned to the Imperial College. In 1966 he became a professor of theoretical hydrodynamics. 1974 to 1979 and 1983 to 1986, he was faced with the mathematics faculty. 1990 to 1993 he was dean of the Royal College of Science.

In 1984 he was awarded the Senior Whitehead Prize and in 1985 the Otto Laporte Award. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society (1974). He holds an honorary doctorate from Brown University and the University of East Anglia.

He is the editor of the Biographical Memoirs of Fellows of the Royal Society.
