John Turturro

John Michael Turturro ( born February 28, 1957 in Brooklyn, New York City ) is an American actor, director and screenwriter.

Life & Training

His parents are Katherine Turturro, an amateur jazz singer who worked at a Navy base in World War II, and Nicholas Turturro, who worked as a carpenter and construction worker and mitkämpfte as a Navy soldier during D-Day in Normandy. He was raised Catholic by his parents, his mother is Sicilian -born, his father was born in Apulia. When John was 6 years old, his family moved to the neighborhood of Rosedale Queens, New York.

He majored in drama at the State University of New York and graduated with a Master of Fine Arts at the Yale School of Drama. His brother Nicholas Turturro Aida Turturro and his cousin are also an actor. His second brother Ralph Turturro is an art teacher at a middle school.

John Turturro has two children (* 1990 and * 2000 ). His wife is actress Katherine Borowitz.

He received his first small role in Martin Scorsese's Raging Bull. We are especially famous his regular collaborations with Spike Lee, Joel Coen and Ethan Coen. In 1991 he was awarded at the International Film Festival in Cannes for his role in Barton Fink as best actor.
