John V. Le Moyne

John Valcoulon Le Moyne ( born November 17 1828 in Washington, Pennsylvania, † July 27, 1918 in Baltimore, Maryland ) was an American politician. In the years 1876 and 1877, he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Le Moyne attended the public schools of his home and then to 1847 the Washington and Jefferson College, in his hometown of Washington. After a subsequent law degree in 1852 and its recent approval as a lawyer in Chicago, he began to work in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career. In 1872 he ran unsuccessfully yet a member of the Liberal Party for the Congress. He then moved to the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1874, he lost a Democratic candidate in the third electoral district of Illinois against Charles B. Farwell. Le Moyne but put against the election results a contradiction. When this was granted, he could at May 6, 1876 its new mandate in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC compete. Since he has not been confirmed in 1876, he could only finish the current term in Congress until March 3, 1877.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives John Le Moyne again practiced as a lawyer in Chicago. In 1887 he retired and moved to Baltimore, where he died on July 27, 1918 at the age of 89 years.
