John W. Causey

John William Causey ( born September 19, 1841 in Milford, Delaware, † October 1, 1908 ) was an American politician. Between 1891 and 1895 he represented the State of Delaware in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Causey first attended private schools and then the Albany Academy in New York. He then studied at the Pennsylvania Agricultural College. For the rest of his life he worked alongside his political activities in agricultural matters.

Causey was a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1875 and 1877 he was a member of the Senate of Delaware; In 1884 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, on the Grover Cleveland was nominated as presidential candidate of the party. After his election, he was appointed to the Cleveland tax collector for the area of the State of Delaware. This office Causey practiced from 1885 to 1887.

In 1890 he was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he replaced John B. Penington on March 4, 1891. After a re-election year, he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1895 two legislative sessions. For the elections of 1894, he opted not to run again. He devoted himself to continue farming and became president of an insurance company. From politics he withdrew. John Causey died on October 1, 1908 in his native Milford and was also buried there.
