John W. Thompson

John W. Thompson ( born April 24, 1949 in Fort Dix, New Jersey) is an American manager.

He is CEO of Virtual Instruments and Chairman of the Board of Directors (Eng. about Board ) from Microsoft. Thompson is a former vice president of the board of IBM and former CEO of Symantec.

Training

Thompson attended the John F. Kennedy High School (now Suncoast Community High School) in Riviera Beach, Florida. In 1971, he earned a BBA from Florida A & M University in 1983 and an MBA in the Sloan Fellows program of the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Policy

2008 Thompson supported the presidential candidacy of Barack Obama. 2010/11 he was at the suggestion of Nancy Pelosi member of the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission.

Sports

2005 acquired Thompson along with three entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley, by the Bay Area Basketball Partners LLC was founded for this purpose, a 20- percent stake in the Californian NBA team Golden State Warriors.
