John William Clark Watson

John William Clark Watson ( born February 27, 1808 Albemarle County, Virginia; † September 24, 1890 in Holly Springs, Mississippi ) was an American politician. He represented the state of Mississippi during the Civil War as a senator in Konföderiertenkongress.

Watson was before the secession of the southern states not politically active. In November 1863 he was elected for Mississippi in the second Konföderiertenkongress. He took in the Senate the place of the retiring James Phelan. There he remained on 18 February 1864 to 10 May 1865 when the Confederacy surrendered.

After the war, Watson retired from politics. From 1876 to 1882 he worked as a judge at the State Court of Mississippi. He died in 1890 in Holly Springs, where he was also buried.
